Our 120 strand hand-made bamboo whisk (chasen), is uniquely suited for creating the perfect matcha tea beverage. The bamboo tea scoop (chashaku) is perfect for measuring out our organic matcha powder and scooping tea out of the packet.

Matcha is my ultimate morning pick me up that’s similar to coffee… it boosts my mood and elevates my energy, but without the rush of caffeine you get from coffee. Unlike coffee that gives you a quick energy spike and releases the stress hormone cortisol, matcha provides a steady and sustained energy boost throughout the day. It has around 70 milligrams of caffeine, as opposed to 100 milligrams in a regular-sized black coffee, and it releases the caffeine over a longer period of time.
Matcha is traditionally made with a tea whisk and scoop which is roughly around 1/2 teaspoon per scoop. Pour in 1 cup of hot or cold water over the matcha powder (matcha doesn’t dissolve in water, it’s just “suspended within the water”, so the temperature of the water can be hot or cold). Whisk quickly in a zig-zag motion until little bubbles start to form. Continue whisking until all of the clumps are broken up and the top of the tea is covered with a thin layer of foam. This takes about a minute. If you don’t have a tea whisk, just use small wire whisk or shake it up in your blender bottle. It’s wonderful in coconut water or just water and lime as a refreshing drink before or after a workout.
